In celebration of the fifth anniversary of Herman Miller Tokyo, the creative mind of Alexander Girard was portrayed through a pop-up experience.

Girard, Eden, 1967

“My greatest enjoyment and satisfaction in the solution of any project is uncovering the latent fantasy and magic in it.” —Alexander Girard

As part of Tokyo Design Week 2015, Herman Miller and Maharam offered the public a meaningful glimpse into the creative life and work of Alexander Girard, whose skills and work transcend disciplines. To date, he continues to inspire many with his unique vision. Visitors were treated to an extensive body of work, including textiles, objects and furniture by the prolific designer, from the Herman Miller Archive.

One-of-a-kind Girard upholstered pieces, new furnishings, silkscreen panels and textiles from Maharam, as well as a selection of officially-licensed Girard designs and products were showcased. Here are the images documenting the exhibition in case you missed it!
