Maharam was founded in New York City in 1902 by Louis Maharam, a Russian immigrant. First renowned as a supplier of theatrical textiles for costume and set design in the 1940s, Maharam became a pioneer of the contract textile industry in the 1960s through the development of performance-driven products for commercial interiors.
Today Maharam is recognised for its rigorous and holistic commitment to design as a leading provider of textiles to architects and interior designers. We embrace a range of disciplines from product, graphic, and digital design to art and architecture.
